Hello there, welcome to my blog! Its purpose is to offer something fast, fresh, and fun every day or two in a way that leaves you with some sort of healing from the lulls in life. The format will be diverse like you are, and there will be plenty of opportunities to share your insights and even advertise your interests!
We’ll begin with Fuse the Muse, a chance for all you creative folks to strut your stuff! Your muse is the image above, and your job is to fuse it with an abstract theme, impressing us all with your insight and/or humor. Today your theme is community. So what’s coming to mind?
For me, well it’s true, I still enjoy a little gaming every now and then, even as a family guy, author, and physician! For those who don’t, the Triforce above is an essentially omnipotent entity from Nintendo’s Zelda series. As I recently encountered the Triforce making my way through the latest Zelda game, it struck me how useful it could be in describing the Christian God and the community he represents.
God is considered to be triune—fully three and fully one—the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Confusing? Well, each of the three parts of the Triforce is still called “Triforce,” even though the Triforce is not complete without these parts coexisting. Similarly, each of the three persons of God is still considered God, even though God cannot be completely described without all three persons. Each part of the Triforce is at least somewhat distinct and demonstrates varying aspects of its nature: power, wisdom, and courage. Likewise, each person of the Trinity communicates different aspects or manifestations of God to humans, so that God’s nature is made known to us in the most helpful ways. Also, amidst the Triforce is a space that is not part of the Triforce, nor does it represent a deficiency in the Triforce. God also creates a space of community with fixed and maximal access to Him for people who desire it, although they neither become God nor are necessary for God to remain God as a result.
Now, there are certainly important differences between the Triforce and God, but is there any other useful link (pun intended) between the two that help heal your understanding of God or of community in general? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
