I owe a lot of people one…or many. Today is a perfect day to share with someone special in our lives both that we are thankful for them and specifically why we are thankful for them. This post is dedicated to Jan, my mom. I am thankful to her for reasons too numerous to count, but today I’ll highlight her consistency in caring for me.

As a relatively new parent, I am learning how many hours and years of parental effort and love children will never be able to appreciate. Even when individuals don’t exactly qualify for parent-of-the-year, they have still likely invested a lot of their own time and energy into caring for their kids in some way. As I try to imagine what my mom (and dad too!) truly must have given up to help raise me, it is unfathomable, and yet the sacrifice is real and in some ways ongoing. Seriously, wow. Here’s to you mom, and I’ll make sure you know how thankful I am!

Maybe it’s not a parent for you, but who has always been there in some big or small meaningful way? Today, make sure you heal their hereafter with a dose of thanksgiving for their consistent care!

I ask whomever I thank what resource, cause, or quote they would like to share with the world. This is what Jan Dykstra wanted to share with you (and no, I had no idea she would do this; she’s just that great of a mom!): “‘God is merciful by providing a solution for us when he doesn’t have to and when we don’t deserve it. God is just by carrying out a punishment that fits the crime. God is loving by removing our sentence of death from us, enduring it himself to make us perfect in his sight. God is brilliant. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life’ (Healing Hereafter, p. 45). God yearns to have a relationship with us. My desire is that this book will encourage others to seriously consider entering into a relationship with God through Jesus, his Son.”
